“Wii prove our promises” - The roundup

Fresh from Nintendo’s rather disappointing Leipzig press conference “Wii Prove Our Promise” which took place this morning, Nintendo decided to unveil amongst other things that it’s currently set to unleash its pink Ds Lite in Europe October 27th just in time for the all important festive period.

News also surfaced that as previously reported here, there is currently set to be another addition to the Super Mario Strikers series, this time for the Wii. The new addition is tentatively titled ‘Mario Strikers Charged’, and is set to feature the expected mandatory ‘over the top’ special moves mixed with an arcade feel. Graphically the title appears to be very similar to its Gamecube predecessor.

Another new title that was rather excitedly unveiled was a sequel to the reasonably well received Gamecube title Battalion Wars, which appeared to be cleverly abbreviated to ‘BWii’. Not much was revealed about the title, though it’s fully expected to expand on the previous game with the added functionality of full Wii’mote’ support.

So that’s it from Nintendo’s rather underwhelming press conference from Leipzig. Sadly nothing was announced regarding pricing or a release date for Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii console, which leaves us with either the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, or an entirely unannounced event hosted by Nintendo for the announcement to take place. The rumors as always are currently mounting…
