Wii Power Usage

The folks over at Kotaku recently posted an article, comparing the power usage of the Wii against both an LCD TV (to give you a baseline idea) and an XBox 360. The Wii uses up surprisingly little power, which should prove to be fairly important, considering that most gamers will have the system on 24/7! Check out the stats below:
37″ Sharp Aquos LCD TV:
- In Standby Mode: 40w
- Turned on: 180w
XBox 360:
- In Standby Mode: 2w
- Idle @ Dashboard: ~140w
- Running a Game: ~160w
- Playing a DVD: ~110w
Wii:
- In Standby Mode: 10w
- Idle @ Wii menu: 17w
- Running a Wii Game in 480i: 17w
You’re looking at using 1/10th of the power playing your Wii versus an XBox 360! That’s an enormous difference! For those of you out there whose parents may start complaining about your Wii being on all the time, this may be a good article to share to boost your side of the argument!!

I just counted how much it will cost for me to keep wii in standby mode all the time. It’s 6.65€ per year. Not so much but i still rather shut it down completely.
