I’m a little surprised at how quickly the News Channel is coming out, and I’m definitely not complaining! As long as you’ve downloaded the Opera web browser on your Wii (and you’d better go get it now if you haven’t already… while it’s still free!). Come this Saturday, you’ll be able to get both top news stories and photos from the Associated Press. The AP has entered into a two-year deal with Nintendo to provide the service, which will be available in seven languages.

It sounds like it’s going to work similar to the Weather Channel on the Wii, there will be an interactive map and you can zoom in on the area that you’re interested in to get the top news stories. I think it’ll be interesting to see what kinds of news stories are going to be available around the world… it makes me wonder what kind of information the AP will have on my hometown! I’m definitely looking forward to checking it out!
