Virtual Console games priced, kinda.

Satoru IwataDuring a marketing press-conference today in Japan, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata talked on the Vitrual Console and the pricing. Iwata stated that new games downloaded and playable on the virtual console would be priced between ¥500 and ¥1,000 yen, which converts to roughly $4.50 and $8.99 USD.

Of course this is the just the pricing for the new titles, the homebrew or small budget ones, but this would set a standard that the NES, SNES and N64 games would have to follow.

I firmly believe that Nintendo’s Vrtual Console could be a cash cow for them if they price these retro games well. Personally I plan on buying 10 or so of my favorite games from each system to begin with, and I can’t be the only one who will do this.

More news on the virtual Console will be posted when it’s available, hopefully we’ll get a game list in the coming months so we can plan our purchases. Nintendo also announced today that we would know the Wii pricepoint and ship date by September, so we may have a while to wait.

That seems kinda reasonable. I hope that the N64 are the ones that cost 8.99 cause 8.99 is too much for a NES and SNES game.

That seems reasonable, but I hope the games that cost nine bucks are the nintendo sixty four’s cuz that price would be too much for SNES or NES games.
