VC Price Increase in time for XMas

r type

Wasn’t that a nice surprise for all of us on Christmas morning? We all rush over to our precious Wii’s to see what newly released virtual console games we would download (and for me, to get my Super Mario Bros. fix - I love the old NES version!), only to find that you might not have enough Wii Points to purchase the games you planned to.

On Christmas, Nintendo upped the points needed to purchase certain games. Okay… it was only one game that was pricier, but R-Type is the very first TurboGrafx-16 game that you had to spend 800 points to download instead of the usual 600. Granted, this is the first game to have that special increase in price, but it’s gotta make you wonder… is this going to be a trend? And how high in price are we expected to eventually go to enjoy the nostalgic goodness that comes from playing our favourite games from, in some cases, upwards of 20 years ago?

I understand that at the onset of this whole VC thing, that Nintendo indicated that the the prices would only start at NES for 500 points, SNES for 800 points, Sega Genesis for 800 points, etc. but the first rate increase came a little quick for my liking!
