Well it looks like our prayers have been answered (well, mine any ways). Opera Software has issued a press release informing us that a trial version of it’s Web Browser will hit on the 22nd, just in time for Xmas! A late December release date was the long standing rumour, and it’s great to see that it actually came true.
Opera Software today announces that a trial version of its Web browser for Nintendo’s new game console, Wii, will be available on December 22, 2006. The trial version of the Opera browser for Wii is available for download, free of charge from the the Wii Shop Channel. For a more exciting way to read this news, click here to see our comic strip.
Yes, they included a comic strip with their press release. You can’t make this stuff up folks.
It remains to be seen what “Trial Version” really means in the end. Will this just be version 1 with version 2 coming out next year? Or is this just a time limited free demo. Who knows, all that I can say is that I can’t wait to get my web on when Dec 22nd rolls around.

I think what it’s meant by “Trial version”, is that it’s incomplete, or a nicer and easier word to “Beta”. From what I have heard, flash will be avalible on day one, but I’m not sure what versions of flash it’ll support, and I heard that Javascript and Java may not be avalible on launch.
Typing this from my Wii–looks like Javascript made the cut.us I access gmail in standard mode–google reader as well.
