OK, Loz and Stuart, it may be to late but, u can play Uk games on AU platforms, because both game consumers a developed by PAL, thats the little wordig that is on most game covers, as for america and japan and stuff there game covers have NTSC, its a tag if you will to let people know what game works on what console, and i know for a fact that UK and AU are both PAL distributors, and i think that this region coding is stupid to say the least, there only doing it to avoid controversy, such as getting a banned game from america into UK boarders such as manhunt and manhunt 2 etc, but for as little as $30 - $50 you can get your Wii mod chipped at your local Game store which allows you to play games from anywhere...so yeah, thats basically a fixed solution to this region lock, BYEBYE

I am not sure but I would guess that you cannot play UK games on my AU WII. My guess would be a region for Asia/Pac, a region for Americas and a region for EU. There are probably more. There are 'mod chips' out there for $100 AU but I've not gone that route. It's just meant I haven't bought many games. The same game in AU can cost up to 3x what it costs in the USA. That just isn't fair. This decision by Nintendo and/or their gaming companies has cost them about 300-400 dollars from this user.

Hi Stuart,

Can you play UK games on your au wii? We are thinking of buying a wii console before we emigrate to Astralia next year.
Thanks,
Loz

This is disappointing to say the least. I was a big fan on the wii until i found that two titles I bought in the US will not work in Australia. I will not be spending too much on games for the wii in the future. The titles were 'cars' and 'blazing angels'. Unlike other consoles, these titles do not work on my au wii. I was an advocate of the wii and told lots of people to buy them. Now I am not.
