Nintendo + Six Flags = Success?

It was announced earlier this week that Nintendo has struck a huge deal with Six Flags amusement parks. Nintendo is now the “Official Gaming Console of Six Flags”. What this means is that Nintendo will be installing Wii gaming stations at several of the amusement parks where people can play the Wii for free. There’s no word yet as to which or how many of the 26 theme parks will be lucky enough to get the stations. In exchange for the awesome publicity of having the Wii out there for theme park enthusiasts to play around with, Nintendo will, in turn, be running a future promotional contest of some sort for Six Flags at Nintendo.com.

This agreement with Nintendo enables us to partner with a company, and a product, that has major relevance in the lives of today’s families. When this audience is not in our parks, more often than not they are at home playing video games — and now they can do both in one place as we continue to build Six Flags into a supermarket of entertainment,” said Mark Shapiro, Six Flags President and CEO.
