Nintendo looking to reach out to third party developers

After Nintendo’s impressive showing at this years E3 trade show, developers who originally never intended to develop titles for the Wii started clamouring onboard by the dozen to provide titles for what looks to be one of the most sought after products this Christmas, but Nintendo being Nintendo still isn’t satisfied.
In an interview with MTV, Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America President stated that whilst third party development on the Wii is currently looking extremely promising, there are still many other developers of big named franchises who the company wish would provide titles on the Wii. Take Two the company behind the infamous Grand Theft Auto series is one such company that Nintendo are currently in avid talks with.
Reggies Fils-Aime stated “We’re reaching out to every publisher, frankly every day. I’ll be spending some time later today with the folks over at Take Two to see what type of support they can give our console. The fact is there will be M-rated content on the Wii console. EA has already announced that they’re bringing ‘The Godfather’ to our console. And we want every single best-selling game to be available on Wii. Whatever that content is.”
It certainly seems as if Nintendo is taking a firm step in the right direction with its forthcoming Wii console, as I’m sure you’re no doubt aware from the success of previous Nintendo consoles third party developers can help make or break a console. With Nintendo’s previous console the Gamecube there was with out a doubt an obvious lack of third party support, with Nintendo having to rely on a small amount of first party titles to keep the console afloat; thankfully it looks as if Nintendo are taking every precaution to make sure that situation doesn’t ever happen again.
