Metroid Prime 3: Corruption returning to roots

Metroid Prime 3In a recent interview with Nintendo Now, Retro Studios’ Game Director Mark Pacini states that the newest entry into the Metroid series will “Go back to the roots of Metroid, a very immersive single player first-person adventure.” This confirms that there will not be any multiplayer gameplay present in this next installment.

We are also told that the new weapon system is, in fact, based on the old system. Pacini continues, “In this game the weapons are going to be stackable, they’re similar to Super Metroid. We kind of modeled our system a little bit after that.” This means that it will not be necessary to constantly change weapons in Corruption; instead, whenever a new beam is introduced, it adopts every function of that previous to it.

I wonder why every game for this system seems to be avoiding online multiplay. The wii has been touted as being an always online console and yet none of the developers want to go multiplayer.

I’m thinking that it’s due to the fact the devs will have enough work just figuring out the new controller. If I was in their place I wouldn’t want to bit off more then i could chew either! :)

They’ve said that Super Smash Bros Brawl will be online, so I wouldn’t say “every.”
