How to Protect Your Wii Points

Let’s say that you have a little brother/sister, roommate, younger nieces/nephews, significant other… well, you get the point. Let’s say you have one of the aforementioned people who either lives with you or comes by for the occasional visit. Of course, everyone wants to have a chance to play around with your new Wii, right?
How annoying would it be to log on after a busy day of gaming with the family and notice… lo-and-behold… someone has gone and spent all the Wii Points that you were saving up for the awesome virtual console game that was coming out the following week. I don’t know about you, but I’d be more than just a little on the angry side… a little ragey, even!
Chris Kohler, over at WIRED Blogs has put together some pretty simple instructions on how to password protect your Wii Points to keep that from ever happening, or from every happening again, in some cases.
- Hit the Wii Options button in the lower left-hand corner of the Wii Menu and navigate to Wii Settings.
- Click the arrow on the right side of the screen to bring up Page 2, choose Parental Controls.
- Go through the process of creating a PIN and a secret question.
- In Other Settings, select “Yes†when asked about restricting the use of Wii Points.
Fortunately, you don’t have to worry about anybody going ahead and racking up your credit card bills by buying those million Wii Points they always wanted, since the system doesn’t retain your credit card info.

Preetttty Sneaky! Not too worried about it though - decent precaution though!
