Gates not moved by Wii controller

While other high level execs at Sony and Microsoft are giving Nintendo their props, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates has stated that “[motion sensing is] something that’s not mainstream for most games”. In an interview with MTV news, Gates talked about the 360 and Microsoft’s plans for the future. He did take some time to talk [...]

WiiSports faces confirmed!

In an interview with MTV, Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that we will be able to use our own custom faces in WiiSports. Although the hows haven’t been released, Miyamoto has said that once our faces have been made, you might end up seeing your face show up in other Wii games.
… I am involved [...]

WiiMote a Microphone?

According to an article on 1up.com there is a chance that the Wii controller MAY have a microphone in the controller as well. A web site domain name called wiikaraoke.com may have been grabbed by Nintendo in order to grab any sites that are Wii related URLs’ but still could be a good idea. [...]

Is this the Wii’s avatar system?

Miyaymoto hinted that Wii games may have some sort of caricature making features where you would mix and match things to make your avatar resemble your face. Others believe more fantastical (now a word) things, such as a camera or picture reading devices. It’s probably just going to be like the avatar system on the [...]

Wii pricing

Infendo posted an article which tried to take a more accurate stab at the Wii’s price. It says that Nintendo purposefully kept the cost a secret so that they could evaluate the PS3’s price, and decide based on that. So according to the article, the Wii will most likely be priced at $250 rather [...]

Wii console at E3 a doppelganger? [update 1]

Recently, there has been a slew of well-supported rumours that no one actually played a Nintendo Wii system at E3. It is now common belief that gamers in the Nintendo booth were playing an early development kit, or perhaps even a GameCube with Wii-remote functionality. The latter is most likely incorrect, as it has already [...]

The WiiMote: Nitty Gritty

One of the main attractions of Nintendo’s upcoming console is its motion detecting remote.  Contrary to what some people think, this controller is NOT magic, and there is science to it.
The first thing that may come as a shock to people is that the company whose technology powers the WiiMote (as it has been lovingly [...]

In a recent interview with Nintendo Now, Retro Studios’ Game Director Mark Pacini states that the newest entry into the Metroid series will “Go back to the roots of Metroid, a very immersive single player first-person adventure.” This confirms that there will not be any multiplayer gameplay present in this next installment.
We are also told [...]

Wii virtual console video

Here is a short video showing the Virtual Console interface at E3. The games look great, and the loading times are very short. This was marked as a demo interface, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t the final version that the Wii ships with. It’s worth a look none the less.

Sony cheif praises Wii

Ferrago has posted in interesting article based on comments made by Sony chief Phil Harrison.
In a compliment that possibly says more about the Xbox 360 than the Wii console, Sony chief Phil Harrison has suggested that the Nintendo Wii will become the second console of choice, behind the PS3, but - inevitably - ahead of [...]

Wii ejects disk…on video!

This video not only shows how the smooth disk ejection of the Wii console, but it also gives you a better size comparison then has been seen before. The Wii console is tiny, much smaller than I thought it would be.
