Bluetooth & Wifi confirmed for Wii

wifiOur beloved Nintendo Wii video game console will feature support for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, both powered by Broadcom, the console maker has announced.

This is an industry first and will make the Wii the first major games console ever to include Bluetooth as a standard feature, allowing for wireless controllers and other accessories, such as headsets.

Broadcom has made some new technology enhancements to ensure that users won’t have to trade off any functionality or reliability for the convenience of having a wireless controller.

Special measures have also been taken to optimize wireless performance, and make sure that there is no interference when 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections are being used simultaniously.
