Beautiful Katamari rollin’ on the Wii? Oh, not so much.

Courtesy of a 1up Story, we now have proof that Beautiful Katamari, the long rumored arcade/retail Katamari game coming to Wii, is now in fact NOT…. Yet.

So what about a Wii version? Jun Moriwaki, the director of the game comments, “The Wii is also one of our platform choices. We would like to challenge with different interfaces such as the keyboard on a PC, or the touch pad on the DS. However, the controller for Wii is quite unique so being able to overcome the different issues will be the key.”

This isn’t entirely bad news folks - maybe we’ll see a newer Wii game? Maybe we’ll see this one later… And another thing - We might see it on the DS. That…Would own.

Speculation?

I don’t see how this game can’t be put on the Wii. Games like Marble Madness and Super Monkey Ball use essentially the same mechanic as Katamari - rolling a ball around a play field. And Katamari seems to be a perfect fit for the Wii with its charming stylized graphics and control mechanic.
